RCS Football Looks to Defend Conference Championship This Season!

2008 Season Begins
Our boy's Flag Football team had an outstanding season of action last year that led to Redeemer's first ever school championship! This year our team looks to repeat off last years performance and defend our conference championship.

This year our team is led by head coach Tony Mendola and his coaching staff which consists of: Kevin McDonald, Kim Rutledge, John Wilhelm, Dave Hurst, Roy Jackson, and Paul Smith.

Our team will be led by a balanced offense attack and a defense that is surrounded with speed and quickness off the ball.

Come out with a lawn chair or two and support our flag football team this season as they continue to strive for excellence on and off the football field!

Redeemer Defeats Meadowbrook in Season Opener
On August 29, the RCS flag football team opened up their season with a win over first year team Meadowbrook 33-0. Redeemer was led by a smothering defensive line that put pressure on the Meadowbrook offense all game long. Our offense proved too fast for the Meadowbrook defense connecting on long pass plays and long running plays for touchdowns. Congrats to the RCS flag football team on winning the first game of the season!

We also need to say a big thank you to Meadowbrook for coming out and working hard all the way up to the last whistle. This is Meadowbrook's first season having a flag football team and we look for them to have great seasons in the years to come.

Redeemer Suffers First Loss
Last Friday, September 5, our boy's flag football team suffered their first loss of the season to Blessed Trinity by a score of 6-0. This was a close game throughout that showed both teams mindset to stay focused on defense. Each time the ball was marched down the field both teams were able to stop those drives due to their defense.

With time fading away the Redeemer Lions tried one more play that almost went the distance of nearly fifty yards for a score. Josh Mendola tossed the ball to Andrew Wilhelm who broke several tackles but was finaly downed as time ran out. This was an exciting game for everyone to see!

Our Redeemer flag football team looks to get back into action this Friday, September 12, as they travel to Ocala Christian Academy to take on the Crusaders with kick-off set for 4:00. Come on out to OCA this Friday and support Redeemer football!

Redeemer Riding a Two-Game Win Streek
The boy's flag football team got back to their winning ways this past week with wins over Ocala Christian Academy and St. Patrick's from Gainesville. Credit is due once again to the Redeemer defense who only allowed 8 points to be scored in the combined two games! Redeemer shutout Ocala Christian coming home with 13-0 victory. In the second game against St. Pat's, Redeemer won in an exciting match-up by pulling away for a 13-8 victory against a consistent St. Pat's air attack. Redeemer will look to make it 3 straight wins as they travel to Meadowbrook on Thursday, September 18. Kickoff will take place at 4:30. Last time these two teams met Redeemer won in dominating fashion with a score of 33-0.

Come out and support Redeemer football as they continue to press on this football season. We look forward to seeing you out there! GO LIONS!
