Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for this season and I am so incredibly thankful for you and your child! I am growing to love this class more and more and feel so blessed and privileged to be their teacher!
Here are some of the concepts we are working on this week:
Phonics:We are reviewing the special sounds sp, cr, tw, spl, and spr and adding on scr, squ, sn, and sl. These can be quite tricky, so please review these with your child during your reading time. We are continuing to mark vowels, fill in missing vowels in words, and spell one vowel words. Please make sure your child is practicing reading every night for at least 10 minutes. This will truly enhance their fluency and better prepare them for the first grade.
Handwriting: Uppercase A, V, and K.
Math: We are learning how to tell time to the hour, identifying before, after, and between, writing money amounts to 10 cents, and ordering money amounts to 10 cents.
Core: Our next unit is American Civilization and the Culture of the Sioux Indians. Your child will be learning all about the Pilgrims and their voyage to America and the history of the first Thanksgiving. I love teaching this!

The Book Fair was a great success! Thank you to all who bought books because it benefits the school!
Please send in the $5 for our Thanksgiving Feast to cover the cost of turkey and drinks. If you have not yet contacted Mary Bodzo about what side dish to bring, please do so. Thank you!
Please make sure you are sending in a nap mat cover/pillowcase. It is so much easier for me to pass them out at nap time if they have a cover. Thanks!
Please make sure your child has a water bottle each day.
Student of the Week: Jemel!
Our Thanksgiving Feast is going to be on Wednesday, November 19th at 11:30. This feast will be in the Sanctuary and will be combined with Ms.Tweedle's Kindergarten class. It's going to be a wonderful event, so please plan on attending this with your child. We are having turkey, potatoes, pies, and all the works! If you ordered Hot Lunch on this day or on Friday, November 21st, I will try to see if Lisa can get you a refund.
Our field trip to the Fire Station is this Friday, November 21st. We will be departing at 9:30 am and returning after lunch. We will be eating lunch out, so you do not have to bring a lunch for your child that day.
The Fall Festival is this Wednesday, November 19th at 6pm. Come out and enjoy a great night of fun!
There is no school the week of November 24th for Thanksgiving break!
