| Hello, K5 Parents! WELCOME! I am so privileged to be your child's teacher this year. We have had an excellent start to our year and your child is acclimating quite well! Be sure to check out this webpage for weekly updates and what we are working on in class. |
Here's What We're Learning This Week: |
Phonics: We are learning our 5 vowels and their sounds, as well as the letters Tt, and Ll. Please review this with your child at home as much as possible.
Writing: We have started with writing slanted lines, straight lines, down stroke lines, and large and small circles.
Math: We have been counting to 20 and recognizing numerals 1-20. We are exploring our manipulatives such as pattern blocks and teddy bear counters. We have a calendar lesson every morning and are identifying the day of the week, month of the year, the date, and the year.
Core: This curriculum includes literature, science, geography, and history. We have started our year off with the literature unit on nursery rhymes.

Next week I will be awarding our first STUDENT OF THE WEEK! This child earns two items from the treasure box and has special privileges.
Show and Share is every Friday afternoon.
Your child will be receiving a planner sometime within the next couple of weeks. He or she will earn a sticker in it for a great day, and if not, I'll jot down why they didn't have a good day.
Fridays are also TREASURE BOX days. Donations are needed to fill it up for the year. Your children are working very hard to earn this special treat.
