November Activities...... As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday I want to express my gratitude to my Lord for giving me such a wonderful ministry. It is truly an honor and privilege to spend my weekdays with children who I love, who love me back and who love to learn. I KNOW this generation will one day impact our world for Christ. This month will be a very busy one! We will be preparing our hearts and voices for the upcoming feast. This feast has become quite a tradition in K4. We cordially invite you to eat turkey with us on November 21st at noon and promise to entertain you with some uplifting and inspiring music. The children will wear pilgrim hats, bonnets or Indian headbands to create a realistic environment. As part of all this excitement, I want the children to understand the origin of this special American holiday. My basic objectives will be to develop an attitude of appreciation for the accomplishments of the people who lived in the past; to compare the values and needs of people past and present and to create an awareness of the historical significance of the first Thanksgiving Day. Of course the best thing about Thanksgiving is the purpose for the Pilgrims’ trip to America i.e. religious freedom!
Talking turkey is quite educational you know. This strutting bird can do more than gobble and was the first choice of Benjamin Franklin for our national bird. He thought the turkey quite respectable and voted against using the bald eagle who he considered a thief!
God truly made an amazing world. Through the wonders of books, globes and generous people who share their experiences we will have traveled to Israel, the Netherlands, Japan, England, Africa, the Artic, Canada and Mexico. I am sure you will agree none of these countries can match our own. God bless America!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to our Redeemer families.
