June, June, JUNE!! WOW!! We have finally made it all the way through a whole school year - It has been a fun journey.
Folders: So sorry I did not get them to you last week. I will be putting them together with lots of things, so you won't see them again until next Wednesday, unless there is a special note to go home.
Mat covers: I will keep these here, as well, until next Wednesday, along with the kids' mats. Don't bother sending in extras next week, as we may not do much sleeping!
This week we will finish up our review booklets and will continue to review lots of things - letters, numbers, shapes, etc. I will also be evaluating the kids one-on-one, and hopefully the evaluations will be going home with the kids in their folder. If not then, then I will mail them out shortly after the last day of school.
Bible: We will be talking about different Biblical truths and many of these will have pictures to go along with the story. We have already talked about forgiveness (Luke 15:11-32 is the story, and our verse was, "forgive one another" Epesians 4:32), and we have talked about loving God with all your heart (Matthew 22:35-40 is the story, and our verse was, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" Mat. 22:37 - the kids will come home with 4 hearts). I hope to cover or retell: Jesus loves me, "Let the little children come to me", Mark 10:14; "Teach me your way, O Lord", Ps. 86:11; "Trust in the Lord" Ps. 37:3; "Love is kind", I Cor. 13:4; and "Love never ends", I Cor. 13:8.
Rolled up art: If your child comes home with rolled up art, we played with shaving cream, added a little color, drew a design and then made an imprint on paper. If you look closely, you just might find a ghost print of my hand! I did not touch the kids' art, but when I was transferring the shaving cream design my left hand lightly laid on the back of the paper to keep it in place while I rubbed with the other hand, and low and behold my hand appears in some of the pictures - you get a bonus! ;)
FRIDAY: Water fun day with K-4. If you have not paid $10 for the water slide I need that as soon as possible. Come & join us in the fun. Bring your chairs and sunscreen and your picnic lunch.
MONDAY: Donuts with Dad. Please let me know who will be attending so I can plan accordingly. Hope to see all dads there.
That's all for now.
Have a wonderfully zany week!

Last Week's News - in case you missed it |
May 24, 2010
Well, this is our last full week of the school year! WOW!
This week: REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW!
Water day: This will start around 10:30 and go through lunch and maybe afterwards, as well. Most of the class will have ordered pizza, so we will go with that and regular lunch boxes for lunch. The teachers will provide Freezer Pops and lemonade. We would love to have any adults come and hang out with us and be extra hands and eyes - bring your chairs, too. Let me know of your intentions. Should be a fun day in the sun day! (Don't forget the sunscreen, towels and change of clothes.)
Last week: I want to fill you in on a couple of events which occured last week so that you can be in prayer for our families and to remind us all to constantly keep safety in mind when the kids are playing. First of all, one of our first graders lost her Daddy in death suddenly Tuesday night. Then on Thursday, another first grader fell off the climbing rings while at school and severely broke her arm in three places - all compound fractures and it seems there may have been some nerve damage. She is now home from Arnold Palmer Hospital and has recovery and therapy ahead of her. As you can see, both of these events happened within the same class and the same week, and this is therefore a very difficult time for that class. Please keep the kids and the teacher in your prayers - I know they will appreciate it.
Remember this summer when you are all out swimming and playing not to let distractions keep you from keeping your kids safe. Always keep an eye on them and remind them to play safely. I know they get tired of hearing the same old thing and want to try different ways of playing, but they need constant reminding! We as adults often forget to keep a constant watch, as well. When the K-3 kids heard about the accident on the playground (they couldn't miss the action since there was a Fire Rescue unit and a police officer here at school), we talked about why the teachers are always trying to teach them to play safely and not get too crazy because accidents can happen. They don't fully get it, because they say, "but we won't get hurt!" So be their eyes and ears, as they say, and keep after them. No one is to blame for what happened here - it may have been one of those fluky things that happens, but it definitely is a bold reminder for us all!
Have a fun and safe week!
