Letter From School Board Chairman

Welcome to Redeemer Christian School,
As I drive along the fresh pavement of our drop-off circle past the nearly finished gym and middle school, I’m reminded that the work we do this year at Redeemer is made possible because of a foundation others have laid down for us. With shovels and hammers everywhere, that’s no figure of speech. We’re here because of the sacrifice and vision of the Abbots, the Lyalls and countless others who are still at work.

We trust that the construction work around campus is emblematic of the educational work we do at Redeemer. Here we’re building on the foundation of the good news we have received in Jesus Christ. Here too, we’re building on a debt of gratitude for the sacrifice of Another.

The mission of Redeemer is to assist parents in equipping children to live out the gospel in every aspect of life. This gospel tells us that every human being was made in God’s image and for the purpose of bringing his glory and dominion to the earth. After the Fall, sin infected every aspect of what it means to be human, including the will, intellect and emotions. When Jesus satisfied the judgment for sin on behalf of his redeemed people, he declared his Lordship over the creation he is making new once again.

Our motto is “Christ in All Things,” and by this we mean that the Lordship of Christ cannot possibly be contained in the box our culture calls “religion” or “morality.” Where we’re tempted to limit Christ to Sunday morning or Bible class, the Lord himself declares that every square inch of creation belongs to him -- not just birds and trees but education and culture, too.

Our philosophy of education therefore agrees with our culture where it admits there is no such thing as a “bare fact.” Every human being sees and interprets all of life, whether in economics, arts, science or politics, through the lens of his worldview. But on the authority of Christ who is himself the absolute Truth, we stand against a culture that believes that autonomous man is the measure of all things.

So at Redeemer we study history, arts, and science and in these things we see the indelible stamp of God in the world he has made. In every academic subject, we see the continuing story of Creation, Fall and Redemption. And when we play basketball and soccer, our aim is like that of Olympian Eric Liddle, who said that “when I run I feel the Lord’s pleasure.”

In all that we do here this year, we would aim for that chief and best end of man, which is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. We’re building on a great foundation. I hope you’ll enjoy laboring with us.

Sincerely,
Michael Warren
