Redeemer High School’s ChemClub: Where Chemistry Comes to Life

Redeemer High School’s ChemClub, part of the nationally recognized American Chemical Society (ACS), is celebrating its fifth year of hands-on science and student engagement! Our high school’s largest and longest-standing club is led by none other than our ever-inspiring chemistry teacher extraordinaire, Mr. Bob Ayton.

With nearly 20% of the high school student body participating, ChemClub meets every three weeks to bring chemistry beyond the textbook. Students enjoy dynamic chemical demonstrations, chemistry-themed games, and interactive experiments that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.

This fall, Redeemer will proudly host ChemBowl 4 on November 19th, marking the fourth consecutive year of this free quiz bowl competition for public and private schools in Marion County. Thanks to generous donations from individuals and the American Association of Chemistry Teachers, the event features awards, refreshments, and giveaways for all participants.

In the spring, the club will also lead Little Lions Chemistry, a beloved outreach event where high school students teach 2nd to 5th graders at Redeemer Elementary through exciting chemical demonstrations.

Redeemer’s ChemClub, with Mr. Ayton at its helm, continues to inspire a love for science…one reaction at a time!
