Welcome Home

As we approach Homecoming week in the high school (October 20-25), let’s consider why we celebrate this tradition at Redeemer.

Before the high school was established in 2014, we had numerous students matriculate through 8th grade and go elsewhere to finish their high school careers. Since 2018, we have been privileged to graduate 8 senior classes from our high school, totaling over 150 students. Thus, we desire to welcome “home” each of these students to the place where they grew up. The Bible is replete with homecomings, a theme that cannot be overlooked. Adam and Eve were cast from the garden when they sinned, and humans have longed for a true home ever since. Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Daniel and countless other biblical figures longed for home at some point. Even Jesus, God in the flesh, left Heaven so that all things would be made new as He underwent the torture and sacrifice of the cross. The Bible tells us that we are made by God and for God and cannot find rest (home) until we are found to be in Him. (Romans 6:23, Romans 8:1) Spiritual homecoming is something every human heart longs for, and our celebration can serve to remind us that God has given to us the greatest homecoming, the invitation to believe in Christ.

Finally, our desire is to see our vision fulfilled through students coming to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Our goal is to preach the Gospel through the medium of a rigorous education that trains students’ minds and hearts through a biblical worldview. We want all of our students to know Jesus and to follow Him all the days of their lives. We celebrate homecoming as a tangible reminder that one day, all who know and are known by Jesus will be welcomed home by God into His everlasting arms.

Our high school students will enjoy homecoming activities like dress-up days, lunchtime games, and the dance on Saturday. Everyone else is invited to the Fall Festival and the Powder Puff game Friday evening. As you enjoy these events, I hope you will consider God’s call for you to come home. If you are already a follower of Jesus, embrace the home He has won for you through the cross. If you do not yet follow Jesus, consider His invitation to come home to Him.

Cast your sins upon Him and He will clothe you with His righteousness. Come home.
