Welcome Back....Again!

We are now finishing the fourth week of the new school year! Can you believe it? It seems to
me like it was yesterday that we were meeting as a staff in pre-planning to prepare our hearts,
minds and facilities to receive our students and start the year. In the short time we’ve been in
session, we have tested our emergency systems, endured rain-soaked carlines, and settled into
a great rhythm. This morning, I attended the upper school chapel and was blessed to be able to
worship together with over 200 students along with the junior high and high school teaching
staff. Athletics are underway, with students participating in volleyball, cross country, swim,
golf, flag football and soccer. Clubs like Regis, Honor Society and Actors Studio are meeting.

Upper elementary students have begun their brief but important standardized testing regimen
which will give teachers a baseline to measure growth throughout the year. Every classroom is
active, every lunch and PE time explodes with energy and the 540 students and 68 employees
here are working, struggling, striving and engaging in the process of growth on a daily basis.
All this is to say…we are glad you are here and are part of the Redeemer community. As you
may already know, we seek to live out the core values of excellence, grace and community. As
such, you will hear a lot from us over the next 10 months about our attempts to exhibit these
values in all we do. We’ll aim for excellence, and when we don’t achieve it, will ask your
patience and pardon. We’ll seek to exhibit grace and invite our students and community to live
in that grace that Jesus displayed to us through His death for our sins. Finally, we’ll cultivate
community within and seek to bless the community “out there” as we are able.

Finally, I want to let you know of a few upcoming opportunities to get involved and connect.
Next Friday, September 9 th , we’ll be hosting a Coffee and Community event in the Good
Shepherd sanctuary following the close of morning carline, around 8:15. Everyone is invited to
grab a cup of coffee, enjoy a short parenting devotional by Allie Phillips and meet other
Redeemer families. Our athletic calendar is full and we’d love to see as many of you out to a
meet, game or match in the coming weeks. See the schedule weekly in Mane News. Stay tuned
also for info on upcoming events such as The Women’s Pregnancy Center Walk for Life, RCS Fall
Festival and Homecoming activities and our annual Gala event in November.

Have a restful long weekend! Go Lions!
